The progressive insights into health over the past few years have shown us that health is based on 5 pillars (in order of importance):
The point I want to make here is that there is a hierarchy. As with everything in life. Some things are simply more important than others, and if you want to achieve the greatest impact, start with what matters most.
If you have a crack in your attic wall, you have a few options. You could quickly patch it up with a tube of Alabastine, or you could head down to the basement and repair your home's foundation if that happens to be the root cause of the crack upstairs. It’s more complicated and time-consuming, but the result is that your attic crack is fixed for good. If you don't do that and just reach for the Alabastine, you’ll be patching forever because you haven't addressed the underlying problem.
This sounds logical, and it is. Yet, in our daily lives, we humans are mass-producing the equivalent of patching with Alabastine. In other words: we are treating symptoms. We’d rather pop a paracetamol than figure out why we have a headache (perhaps due to stress at work?).
Imagine if we treated our cars this way. If the oil warning light came on, we’d just put a sticker over it instead of adding oil. Ridiculous, right? Nobody would do that. Well, maybe not with a car, but we certainly do it with our health (and many other things in life).
As an Apple expert, I spent years helping companies with maintenance and support. The first thing you do when problems arise is: Check the Basics. Is it plugged in? Is the printer on? Is the internet working? Are all updates installed? It might sound trivial, but that’s where you start.
And that is how you should look at your health. Check your basics! Yet we don't do that; instead, we collectively reach for the quick fixes, where the cure is often worse than the disease. It’s not that I think healthcare is pointless, but when doctors pay no attention to the root causes and only look at the external symptoms, I really wonder how it is that these—presumably intelligent and highly educated—people keep doing it. What possesses them?
My father—with whom I love to debate—says there is a devil's pact between the patient, the doctor, the industry, the insurers, and the government. Patients—here we go again—want to be rid of their ailment today and don't want to hear about lifestyle changes. Doctors have taken the Hippocratic Oath and promised to help the patient, even if the patient refuses to take responsibility. The industry provides what the market demands and makes a fortune doing so (only the arms industry is more profitable), and the insurers and the government scramble behind them in an attempt to keep this madness afloat.
But what can we do about it? Changing behavior is perhaps the hardest thing there is. Armies of coaches and consultants can attest to that. Patients don't change that easily. And top-down coercion doesn't work either. No, change always starts small and from the bottom up, with people who look ahead, think independently, and are willing to take risks. Pioneers, in other words. And that is who we are.
Here at SMPL, we focus primarily on nutrition as the foundation of health.
Not because we don't find other pillars interesting or important, but because we simply can't do everything at once. Especially in the startup phase we are currently in. You can certainly expect more from us in the future. But for now, it’s nutrition. And if you look at that closely, you can conclude that the quality of our food is also determined by a number of factors that follow a certain hierarchy:
It is true that if you eat organic—food grown with fewer pesticides and without artificial fertilizers—you are on the right track. However, the difference compared to food from conventional agriculture is not nearly as large as you might think, especially considering the costs are relatively much higher. If we were to promote organic food on a massive scale, people would end up consuming fewer nutrients than they would with non-organic food, simply because most people cannot afford the higher price and would therefore eat far fewer vegetables.
Organic farmers also use toxins, and because these are often less efficient compared to synthetic ones, they have to use large quantities. For example, organic farmers are allowed to use large amounts of copper—a heavy metal that is highly toxic and detrimental to soil life. Therefore, don't forget to wash your organic vegetables very thoroughly.

Is this distinction important? The latter group is not truly interested in organic farming and will be more inclined to push the boundaries of what is legally permitted. Although SKAL, an independent organization that oversees organic production in the Netherlands, does its best to inspect companies, it remains human work and not everything can be checked.
You can farm organically out of principle, viewing the regulations as a reflection of the pursuit of healthy food, or you can farm organically for profit, viewing the rules merely as rules. You don't care about the philosophy behind them. One farmer might take measures that aren't required by SKAL but are beneficial for the end result, while another farmer does only the bare minimum required and/or the maximum allowed. On the surface, organic is always organic, but unfortunately, that is not how it works, regardless of the certificate. Even with organic food, there is a significant difference in quality. SKAL does absolutely nothing about that.
Nothing is what it seems. Especially when it comes to food. If there is one conclusion I have reached in recent years, it is this. To unravel the truth about healthy food, we need to dig deeper. Literally.
Remember that pizza commercial from years ago? "Start with the crust." In hindsight, there was a lot of wisdom in that. The core of the problem lies in the soil. It’s not for nothing that it’s at the top of the list. That is where we can gain the most. And yet, that is exactly where we do the stupidest things.

The WHO (World Health Organization) has published reports showing that agricultural land worldwide is completely depleted and teetering on the brink of total sterilization. This has enormous consequences for general health, the environment, and the climate. The soil is literally the foundation of our existence. And we treat it as if it were nothing. Organic farmers are to blame here, too.
I don't want to demonize organic farmers, as I can only applaud their pursuit of better quality. However, it is nowhere near enough. And honestly, this is also just treating the symptoms. Superficial solutions for problems that go much deeper. Literally. It is short-term rather than long-term thinking.
So we need to look deeper and further. At the soil, that is.
Because how does it actually work? Plants grow by using light to extract carbon dioxide from the air and water and minerals from the ground, converting them into all kinds of carbon compounds (such as sugars). A portion of this is pumped back into the soil through the roots as food for the (micro-)organisms living there. When the plant dies, these organisms digest the plant remains and secrete acids in the process. These acids are capable of dissolving the minerals in the soil so that the plant can absorb them with water through its roots. And so the circle is complete. If you let nature take its course, the soil becomes increasingly rich in nutrients and soil life. And that effectively means that more CO2 ends up in the soil instead of in the air. Therein lies the relationship with our climate.
Every year, farmers massively destroy the fragile balance that has formed in the ground. By plowing. For centuries. It's stupid! Especially since the introduction of mechanization in agriculture, the soil has deteriorated rapidly. The acidity of the different layers is completely disrupted, the network of spores (fungi) and root channels is destroyed, and the ground is exposed to the elements (plowing loosens the earth), etc. The soil tries to restore the balance, which costs a lot of energy and comes at the expense of its resilience. The ground becomes sick, and so farmers have to use toxins to combat that. The plants receive far fewer nutrients and also become vulnerable to diseases and insects, and here, too, the farmer has to resort to using toxins.
In addition, farmers rely heavily on synthetic fertilizers because the soil lacks sufficient nutrients, and they practice monoculture, which further depletes the soil and makes it more vulnerable.
But why do farmers do this? The reason is as simple as it is staggering: because that is how they have always done it. They know no better than that this is the way it should be. And so we live in a world where people suffer from chronic nutrient deficiencies, which in turn leads to an epidemic rise in chronic diseases. It all makes perfect sense, really. And it is not hard to understand that this cannot go on indefinitely. For now, the negative consequences seem manageable, as we are, after all, living longer. But that is an illusion. Look at the research and you will see that while we are all living longer, we are also getting sick at an increasingly younger age. The number of years we live in good health has been declining for years.
You might be less concerned about it, and that is perfectly fine, but we feel compelled to sound the alarm, often and loudly! And when it comes to our product —fulvic acid—we see it as a temporary fix. In an ideal world, it wouldn't be necessary at all, but unfortunately, it will take some time before we have restored the soil to its former glory.

This varies from person to person and depends primarily on your starting point. Fulvic acid supports the absorption and bioavailability of the minerals you already get through your diet or supplements. The faster your body responds to that improved availability, the sooner you will notice a difference. Fulvic acid is not an energy booster, nor is it a substance that provides an immediate effect on fatigue or concentration. What it does is something more fundamental: it supports the way your body absorbs and utilizes minerals. And that very point—the utilization of minerals—plays a bigger role for many people than they realize. Fatigue, "brain fog," and concentration issues often have multiple causes, but in orthomolecular practice, it is frequently observed that mineral metabolism and electrolyte balance are significant factors. You don't need to worry about a bitter, sharp, or "muddy" taste, which is common in impure or thick humic products.Most users find that it simply tastes like water with a very faint hint of minerality. Add 7-10 drops daily to a glass of (chlorine-free) water (fruit juice is also an option, but avoid hot drinks). For children: 1 drop per 10 kg of body weight. Feel free to increase the dose during illness or intense physical exertion. For maximum absorption: take 30 minutes before a meal. For an energetic start to the day: take in the morning on an empty stomach. For recovery: take immediately after sports or physical exertion. SMPL72 is a powerful detox, so be sure to drink plenty of water. If you are pregnant or taking medication, build up the dose gradually and monitor how your body reacts.
